On the weekend of Saturday 14th and Sunday 15th February 2009 Symphonic Brass visited the village of Dobcross in Saddleworth to play in a concert at Holy Trinity Church. The minibus left campus at 11:00am as planned despite the Music Centre Ball the night before!!

The concert was held to celebrate the life of Cyril Walker, Organist at the church for ten years, who had died in 2007 whilst the organ was being refurbished. We played in a joint concert alongside the world renowned organ recitalist, Dr Simon Lindley.

Bacon butties at lunchtime were followed by afternoon rehearsals, then food at 'The Woodings' before we all visited a local real ale hostelry. Overnight accommodation was provided by four families in the parish.

Sunday morning we relaxed before joining in the lunchtime food at church with other guests. Dr Simon arrived and we spent five minutes rehearsing our joint item before the getting ready for the concert.

A DVD and CD were produced to mark the occasion and you can hear us playing the Hallelujah Chorus from the Messiah by Handel by using the player below.

Also please watch the video of us playing Marche Militaire Francais by Saint Saens
