Simon Hogg
A graduate of the National Youth Orchestra, the Royal Academy of Music and Birmingham University; Simon Hogg became a founder member of The Fine Arts Brass in 1980. During this time he performed two thousand concerts, visited over sixty countries, recorded 150 BBC radio and TV broadcasts and made 25 commercial recordings. The Ensemble commissioned seventy works by leading British composers including Malcolm Arnold, Michael Nyman, Colin Matthews, Michael Berkley, Michael Finnissy, Tim Souster and Michael Torke and performed in most major European music festivals.
In 1994 Simon founded Warwick Music, a specialist publisher of woodwind and brass music. Starting with one piece (Holst's ‘Concertante for Trombone & Organ’ (1894), which he discovered in the British Museum) the catalogue now has over 1,200 titles. Many of these titles appear on the Associated Board examination syllabus.
Simon Hogg joined Warwick School as Head of Brass in September 2003. In that time he has formed numerous new bands and won Gold & Silver Medals at the National Concert Band Festival.
In 1996 Simon was made an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. He is a Professor of Trombone at the Royal College of Music Junior Department and for three years was Senior External Examiner at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music & Drama.
